UK Family Wins Significant Mesothelioma Settlement For Mother

Mesothelioma is a deadly disease and it can be quite lucrative for the families of the victims, not that money can ever replace your loved ones, but a mesothelioma settlement can give satisfaction to the victim’s family that makes them believe that some form of justice has been served.

To earn a mesothelioma settlement, it normally has to be proven that the victim was exposed to asbestos and there was some negligence on the part of some individual or organisation that knew about the dangers and did not post sufficient warning to the victim. A UK court made the exception when lawyers for the St. Michaels Hospital in  Aylsham, England had to settle on lesser grounds.

79 year old Betty Farrow worked as an auxilliary nurse in the hospital along with her husband who worked in the boiler room. There was no evidence that Betty was directly exposed to the mesothelioma. Instead, her husband who was exposed while working in the boiler room, came home with the asbestos dust on his clothes and like any wife, Betty handled his clothes. That was when she repeatedly inhaled the deadly asbestos flakes that would eventually lead her to be diagnosed with mesothelioma and succumb to the disease decades later.

The sum of the mesothelioma settlement was only quoted by lawyers as being a “significant” amount, even though Betty was not proven to be directly exposed.
